OFFICIAL RULES - GIRLS 10 & UNDER SPECIAL PROVISIONS

(Recreational Division)

The umpires for the games are the responsibility of the home team or host.  When both teams playing are on home fields, the host is the first team listed.  In the event of a rainout or the need arises to change dates of scheduled games, please contact the opposing team coach well in advance to avoid confusion and to schedule an alternate date.  All games must be played or considered a loss.

 

BASIC RULES FOLLOW:

    1.     Player eligibility -- 10 years and under, player must not reach 11 before January 1.

     2.     Game rules may be altered with the mutual agreement of team coaches to complete the game in the allotted time.

 3.     Base length is 50 feet.

     4.     Pitching distance is 35 feet.  There should be a chalked circle placed 8 feet around the pitcher’s mound.

   5. There will be a chalked line in front of home plate. A hit ball must pass this line to be fair.

   6. All games will be played with no more than 10 and no less than 8 players on the field.  When playing with 8 players, The 9th spot in the batting order does not constitute an out.

  7. All offensive players on the bench will bat consecutively whether or not they are playing the field.

   8. Five innings will be played.  If the game is tied, then declare a tie.

   9 .Either 3 outs or 5 runs determine an inning except the fifth inning, which will be unlimited.

 10. Time limit on games is 75 minutes.

  11. All teams must keep a scorebook in the event of a dispute over the game scores.

  12. The infield fly rule does not apply.

  13. A batter who throws her bat is out.  (This is an umpire’s ruling).

  14. Base stealing will NOT be allowed. Home is closed

  15. One base allowed on an overthrow.

  16. A runner may leave the base after the ball has been released from the pitcher.

  17. Drop 3rd strike rule is NOT in effect, batter is out on strike three.

  18. After the forth ball is pitched, the Coach will come in to pitch the remaining pitches. 

         The batter keeps the same count. 

 19. All teams will play with an 11-inch in good condition ball.

  20. There will be unlimited substitutions allowed.  Batting order will remain the same.

  21. Umpires must be ASA certified and at least 15 years of age.  Use of one (1) is permissible.

  22. Awards will be as follows: All players receive a participation ribbon
